QUINCY, IL - February 23, 2026 - What began as a celebration turned into a powerful call to
action at United Way of Adams County’s Annual Meeting on February 19 at The Ambiance.
While accepting the Business Hero Award, Mark Tyrpin, President of Mercantile Bank, surprised
attendees with a challenge designed to push the United Way 2025 campaign beyond a major
milestone.

In an impassioned speech about what it means to Live United and invest in the organizations
that strengthen this community, Tyrpin challenged those in the room and throughout Adams
County to propel the campaign past $900,000. He announced the community has 90 days to
raise an additional $15,000. When the goal is met, Mercantile Bank will match donations by
contributing $15,000, creating the opportunity to generate an additional $30,000 in support of
local programs.

“Mercantile Bank’s commitment is a powerful show of confidence in our community and the
work we’re doing together,” said Jenna Hull, Executive Director of United Way of Adams County.
“This generosity accelerates our efforts and expands what’s possible for local families. Every
dollar given during this campaign strengthens the network of support so many people depend
on. We’re deeply grateful for Mercantile Bank’s leadership and partnership in building a
stronger Adams County.”

Funds raised through this 90 day challenge will directly support United Way’s partner agencies
focused on supporting households who are Asset Limited, Income Constrained and Employed,
or ALICE. ALICE represents hardworking families who are struggling to afford basic necessities
such as housing, childcare, food, transportation, and healthcare.

Community members, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to make their gift before
May 20, 2026 to help unlock the full $30,000 impact.
